Jakarta, July 1, 2024 – Universitas Trisakti, along with several other private universities, was invited to a meeting of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI). Representatives from Universitas Trisakti raised crucial issues related to higher education financing in Indonesia. They highlighted the unstable and insufficient budget for improving the quality of education and infrastructure at private universities.

The Rector of Universitas Trisakti, Prof. Dr. Ir. Kadarsah Suryadi, DEA., attended the meeting, accompanied by Vice Rector I Dr. Ir. Muhammad Burhannudinnur, M.Sc., IPU, ASEAN Eng., Vice Rector III Ir. Yoska Oktaviano, MT., and Vice Rector IV Prof. Dr. drg. Tri Erri Astoeti, M.Kes., FISDPH., FISPD., to discuss the agenda on:

1. Evaluation of higher education financing policies,
2. Standards for higher education financing components,
3. Strategies for financing education to enhance access to education.

Universitas Trisakti representatives discussed the effectiveness of existing policies in supporting financing, while highlighting the need for improvements in financial approaches to support educational missions. Universitas Trisakti also emphasized the importance of more inclusive and sustainable financing strategies from the government, such as scholarships and subsidies to alleviate the financial burden on students and support increased access to higher education.

Commission X of the DPR RI also reviewed existing standards to determine which components should be prioritized in budget allocation, including student subsidies and other financial aids. This meeting is expected to result in concrete policies that can respond to the challenges faced by private universities, including Universitas Trisakti, and contribute significantly to improving the quality and competitiveness of higher education in Indonesia.
