Jakarta, February 25, 2025 – The Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia, in collaboration with the Legal Information Services and the Faculty of Law Universitas Trisakti, held a seminar titled “Institutional Strengthening in Relation to the Duties and Functions of the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia” at Universitas Trisakti. The seminar aimed to provide students with a deeper understanding of the role and functions of the Attorney General’s Office within Indonesia’s legal system.
In his opening remarks, the Rector of Universitas Trisakti, Prof. Dr. Ir. Kadarsah Suryadi, DEA, emphasized the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and government agencies to enhance legal knowledge among the younger generation, particularly law students.
“Through this seminar, we hope that students will gain greater insight into the role of the Attorney General’s Office in the existing law enforcement system,” stated Prof. Kadarsah.
The event was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Law Universitas Trisakti, Prof. Dr. Dra. Hj. Siti Nurbaiti, S.H., M.Hum, who expressed full support for this initiative as part of efforts to improve the quality of legal education and understanding on campus.
The seminar’s keynote speaker was Dr. Dessy Meutia Firdaus, Acting Director E of the Deputy Attorney General for General Crimes at the Attorney General’s Office, who presented a session on “The Urgency of Restorative Justice in Indonesia’s Criminal Justice System.” In her presentation, Dr. Dessy explained how restorative justice serves as an alternative solution for resolving criminal cases more fairly by focusing on restoring relationships between offenders, victims, and society.
The event also featured Dr. Harli Siregar, S.H., M.Hum, Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) at the Attorney General’s Office, as the keynote speaker. He shared his insights on the significance of implementing restorative justice within Indonesia’s criminal law framework. The seminar was moderated by Dr. Ismaya Hera Wardanie, S.H., M.Hum.
The seminar was attended by all students of the Faculty of Law Universitas Trisakti, who actively engaged with the material presented. This event is expected to broaden students’ perspectives on the role of the Attorney General’s Office and the importance of restorative justice in Indonesia’s legal system.
The seminar concluded with a Q&A session, providing participants the opportunity to directly discuss various aspects of restorative justice and its application in Indonesia’s legal practice with the speakers.
