In commemoration of the meaningful Mother’s Day, the Usakti Library, in collaboration with the Grogol West Jakarta Subdistrict, organized a reading socialization program through storytelling and coloring activities. The aim of this event is to promote the habit of reading from an early age and to honor the role of mothers in educating children.
Held at the Multipurpose Room of Grogol Subdistrict on Sunday, December 17, 2023, the event was attended by dozens of enthusiastic mothers and children.
The event was opened by Dra. Diana Ganefa Dewayanti, the Head of Universitas Trisakti Library, who stated, “By combining storytelling and coloring activities, we want to create enjoyable moments for children while enhancing their interest in reading.” Education serves as a catalyst for changing the attitudes and behaviors of individuals or groups of people with the goal of reaching human maturity through educational efforts and training. Children need to be stimulated to develop systematically from an early age and consistently on every occasion. The event was also attended by the secretary of Grogol Subdistrict, Mrs. Rirrien Herdinawati.
During this occasion, children were invited to engage in an interesting story by Dhita Windi Wardani to expand their imagination and learn to guard themselves against wrongdoing.
Not only that, coloring activities also played an important part in this program. Children were given the space to express their creativity by coloring pictures related to Mother’s Day. This was expected to provide an opportunity for them to express their feelings and understanding of the stories they heard.
The mothers present were also very enthusiastic about this activity, welcoming the initiative to involve children in positive activities like this.
Through reading socialization conducted in a creative and enjoyable manner like this, it is hoped that a generation who loves reading from an early age can be nurtured, and a greater appreciation for the role of mothers in shaping a bright future for Indonesian children can be fostered.
