The Accounting Profession Program of the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Trisakti held a Public Lecture Seminar titled “Challenge and Opportunity for Today Accountants: IFRS S1 and S2”. The event, attended by students from the 44th and 45th cohorts of the Accounting Profession Program (PPAk) at FEB Universitas Trisakti, took place over two days, from November 9 to 10, 2024, at the Bumi Gumati Hotel and Resort. The topic, focused on the implementation of IFRS S1 and S2, is highly relevant, as these standards will be adopted internationally starting January 1, 2025, with Indonesia following suit in 2026.
The seminar was officially opened by Dr. Titik Ayati, Ak., MSi, CPIA, CGP, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at the Faculty of Economics and Business. In her opening speech, Dr. Ayati highlighted the importance of understanding the challenges and opportunities faced by accountants today, as well as the readiness of the younger generation to address these issues.
Following the opening, Dr. Vinola Herawaty, Ak., M.Sc., CA.CSRS.,CSRA, the Head of the Accounting Profession Program at FEB, delivered an opening speech emphasizing the growing need for professionalism in the rapidly evolving field of accounting, particularly regarding the implementation of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), which serve as the global benchmark for financial reporting. Dr. Herawaty also announced that the Accounting Profession Program had been accredited with the highest “UNGGUL” rating by Lamemba, effective October 28, 2024, which is expected to boost student interest in continuing their studies at the PPAk FEB of Universitas Trisakti.
The seminar featured two expert speakers: Prof. Juniati Gunawan, S.E., M.Ak., Ph.D., CRA., CRPM., CSRA., an academic with extensive experience in accounting, and Novianta LT. Hutagalung, SE., Ak., MBA., a business management practitioner with a strong background in accounting. Both speakers provided comprehensive insights into the challenges accountants face in adapting to global standard changes, technological advancements, and the dynamic market expectations.
The session was moderated by Ling Ling, SE., Ak., MAk., CA., CPA., Asean CPA., CACP., who led the interactive discussion. The discussion thoroughly addressed various important aspects of opportunities and challenges in accounting, from the necessity for international accounting expertise to adjusting to fast-developing regulations and technology.
This seminar aimed to enrich students’ understanding of the ongoing changes in the accounting world, preparing them to face future professional challenges with greater confidence.
