Aside from fulfilling the duties of teaching and research, lecturers also have the responsibility to engage in community service (PKM). On Friday, May 3, 2024, a team of lecturers from the Faculty of Arts and Design (FSRD) Universitas Trisakti, led by Dr. Menul Teguh Riyanti, S.Sn., M.Pd, conducted a Community Service activity together with partners from UMKM in Tanjung Duren, Grogol. Other lecturers who were members of the team included Ariani, S.Sn., M.Ds, Dr. Elda Franzia J M.Ds, S.Sn., M.Ds, and Erlina Novianti, S.Sn., M.Ds.

In addition to lecturers, students also participated as instructors and documentation team during the training, namely Quincy and Ahmad Syarief. This PKM itself was titled “GOOD PACKAGING GOVERNANCE AS REBRANDING FOR MSMEs IN TANJUNG DUREN SUBDISTRICT, GROGOL DISTRICT”. During the counseling and training sessions, knowledge was provided on how to create a logo using the CANVA application, aimed at helping UMKM understand the importance of logos in packaging. This was followed by the first presentation on the history of paper and its uses, then how to create attractive packaging, and finally the second presentation on design concepts in more depth but using simple language to be understood by UMKM led by Mrs. Fauziah.

The counseling and training were well received by the UMKM practitioners who appeared very enthusiastic and eager to continue receiving input and guidance from the FSRD USAKTI PKM TEAM. All participants, speakers, and students felt happy. At the end of the event, Dr. Menul Teguh Riyanti, S.Sn., M.Pd as the Coordinator, provided examples of packaging and equipment such as drawing pencils, for the initial process of ideation before moving on to CANVA.

Hopefully, through counseling and training on good and attractive packaging, other MSMEs can implement it to improve sales by managing packaging as part of the rebranding process for each MSME, thus contributing to family economics.
