Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) FTKE: Full of Enthusiasm and Knowledge

The Faculty of Earth Technology and Energy Universitas Trisakti successfully organized the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) event, which took place over two days on August 29-30, 2024, in the Auditorium Room, 8th Floor, Building D. This event was designed to help new students adapt to the campus environment, introduce them to various academic and non-academic aspects, and foster a sense of community.

The event opened with a welcome address from the Dean, Dr. Ir. Suryo Prakoso, S.T., M.T., who congratulated the new students on joining the faculty. Dr. Ir. Suryo Prakoso, S.T., M.T. also provided a brief history of FTKE, introduced the Educational Introduction Program, the Independent Campus-Learning Freedom program, and gave an overview of the faculty’s vision and mission, as well as the expectations during their studies.

The agenda for the first day included:

  • Introduction to the Faculty and University: Students were introduced to the organizational structure of the faculty, study programs, and university, available facilities, and various academic and non-academic support services. This session also covered the curriculum system and learning environment, introduction to academic advisors, tuition payment systems and financial procedures, collaboration for the development of the university’s threefold mission, student affairs, student organizations, student achievements, and alumni.
  • Anti-Bullying and Anti-Intolerance: This session was led by the Head of the Anti-Bullying Task Force of Usakti, followed by a session on Sexual Violence Prevention and Handling by the Head of the PPKS Task Force of Usakti, Student Creativity Week (PKM) and Research, On MIPA, and others by the Head of Bama Usakti, Anti-Plagiarism (Turnitin Team), Environmental Awareness and Healthy Campus (Smoke-Free and Waste-Free Campus by LMK Usakti), as well as the University and Faculty Libraries by the University and Faculty Library UPT.

New students were given the opportunity to ask questions directly to the Faculty and Study Program Leaders as well as guest speakers about campus life, curriculum, and tips for success during their studies.

The second day focused on more interactive activities and relationship-building among new students.

The agenda for the second day included:

  • Entrepreneurship: Presented by the Head of the Business Incubator Development Center USAKTI, followed by Success in Higher Education, Organizational Introduction by the Alumni Association of Trisakti Petroleum Engineering (IAPT), GEOSAKTI, and IKATAMBANG, presented by the Alumni Heads of TP, TG, TT Study Programs. The session also included Motivation for Success in Higher Education by Aegidius Sunusmo, M.Pd, ELT, C.PS, C.IPS.
  • Introduction to Departments/Study Programs: This session covered curriculum, laboratory facilities, student development within departments/study programs (Trikrama Usakti, Code of Conduct, Ethics Code), introduction to the program’s activities, and department association management, presented by the Department/Study Program Leaders (in each study program) accompanied by the Assistant to the Vice Dean III and Academic Advisors for 2024.

The PKKMB event concluded with reflections and feedback from new students about their experiences over the two days. The study programs wrapped up the event, expressing their hopes that the new students would utilize the PKKMB experience to begin their academic journey with confidence. The event closed by introducing all new students to the Student Activity Units (UKM) provided by Universitas Trisakti.

PKKMB was a resounding success, receiving positive feedback from new students. They felt more prepared and motivated to begin their studies at the Faculty of Earth Technology and Energy Universitas Trisakti. The event also successfully built bonds between new students, lecturers, and staff, while introducing various opportunities available within the faculty.

We extend our gratitude to all parties who participated and supported the smooth running of this event. We hope that the experiences gained during PKKMB will fuel enthusiasm and success throughout their studies at the Faculty of Earth Technology and Energy at Universitas Trisakti.
