The Faculty of Earth and Energy Technology (FTKE) Universitas Trisakti organized an International Practitioner Teaching Class on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This event, aimed at fulfilling one of the university’s Key Performance Indicators (IKU) and strengthening its international partnerships, featured Professor Dr. Atsushi Shibayama, Dean of the Faculty of International Research Science at the University of Tsukuba, Japan.
The lecture, titled “Metallurgical Extraction and Recycling Technologies”, explored the critical concepts of “Green Mining and Green Metallurgy.” Professor Shibayama emphasized the importance of advancing mineral processing technologies to ensure the sustainability of resources. He discussed the development of innovative techniques for processing low-grade ores, minerals with high impurities, and promoting resource circulation through recycling. The lecture also highlighted the importance of scientific research and applied methodologies in achieving sustainable development, underscoring their relevance for the future of the planet.
Additionally, as part of the ongoing collaboration, Professor Shibayama introduced an exciting opportunity for FTKE graduates to pursue further studies at Akita University, benefiting from the university’s exclusive facilities and academic resources.
The session was officially opened by Dr. Ir. Suryo Prakoso, MT, Dean of FTKE, and attended by Dr. Ir. Muhammad Burhannudinnur, M.Sc., IPU, ASEAN Eng., Vice Rector I, who has been overseeing the Akita University partnership since 2012. The event was also attended by faculty members, program leaders from the Departments of Petroleum Engineering, Geological Engineering, and Mining Engineering, as well as lecturers and over 80 students.
The session was conducted in an interactive format, moderated by Dr. Kartika Fajarwati Hartono, ST., MT, a dedicated young lecturer, ensuring an engaging experience for all participants.
This event is expected to provide valuable knowledge and insights to FTKE students, particularly those in Mining Engineering, regarding the innovative concepts of “Green Mining and Green Metallurgy.” The collaboration with the University of Tsukuba plays a crucial role in enriching the academic environment at FTKE and preparing students for future challenges in sustainable engineering practices.
