Intercultural Exhibition “Mapping Sarawak to the International World Arts Exchange and Exhibition” UITM Malaysia and Universitas Trisakti

In the spirit of fostering international camaraderie, the Faculty of Arts and Design Universitas Trisakti, in collaboration with UiTM Sarawak Malaysia, held an exhibition titled “Mapping Sarawak to the International World Arts Exchange and Exhibition.” Held on the 2nd floor of Building R at the Faculty of Arts and Design, Universitas Trisakti, on May 29, 2024, this exhibition served as a platform to strengthen the relationship between Indonesia and Malaysia through the beauty of art and culture. Attendees were invited to witness a variety of artworks showcasing the charm and uniqueness of both countries’ cultures, including paintings, handicrafts, and digital art.

The event was opened by Vice Rector 1 of Universitas Trisakti, Dr. Ir. Muhammad Burhannudinnur, M.Sc., IPU, ASEAN Eng. In his speech, Dr. Ir. Muhammad Burhannudinnur expressed his hope that this exhibition would serve as an opportunity to strengthen the bond between the two countries.

“This exhibition is a manifestation of the collaborative spirit between universities in enriching our understanding of the cultural wealth possessed by Indonesia and Malaysia. We hope this exhibition can become a platform to enhance international relations and cross-cultural understanding,” said Dr. Ir. Muhammad Burhannudinnur, M.Sc., IPU, ASEAN Eng.

The Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design Universitas Trisakti, Dr. Sangayu Ketut Laksemi Nilotama, M.Ds., also gave a welcoming speech to all attendees, followed by remarks from the representatives of UiTM Malaysia. The event featured several speakers, including artists from Sarawak, Malaysia, and Dr. Cama Juli Rianingrum, M.Si, representing Universitas Trisakti.

One of the main attractions of this exhibition was the art collaboration between students from both universities. In addition to showcasing artworks, the exhibition was enlivened with various workshops conducted by Sarawak artists, demonstrations of art-making, and joint activities. This made the exhibition not just a venue to appreciate art, but also a celebration of the cultural diversity that enriches Southeast Asia.

With high enthusiasm from the participants, the exhibition successfully garnered attention not only locally but also internationally. The attendees were delighted with the event, gaining many unforgettable new experiences. The Intercultural Exhibition “Arts Exchange and Exhibition” at Universitas Trisakti successfully built a bridge between Indonesia and Malaysia through art and culture. The spirit of cooperation and cross-cultural tolerance emanating from this event serves as an inspiration for us all to continue striving for peace and diversity in the world.
