BSD City — The Faculty of Civil Engineering and Planning (FTSP), Department of Architecture and Department of Civil Engineering, Universitas Trisakti, successfully held the International Seminar, Exhibition, and Excursion on Livable Space (ISLIVAS) 2025 on August 8–9, 2025, in BSD City, Tangerang.
This marks the fourth ISLIVAS event since its inception in 2012, and this year it was held in a hybrid format, with approximately 130 on-site participants and 35 online participants from Hong Kong, Germany, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Carrying the theme “Regenerative Livable Built Environment” (RLBE), the forum invited stakeholders to reflect on the concept of sustainable livable spaces. RLBE is a holistic approach to designing and managing the built environment that emphasizes regeneration, livability, and sustainability.
Its objectives include enhancing natural systems, building inclusive and resilient communities, reducing environmental impacts through resource efficiency, and creating a balance between human well-being, ecological health, and economic sustainability. According to the Organizing Committee Chair, Dr.-Ing. Ir. I. G. Oka Sindhu Pribadi, MSc., MM., RLBE plays a strategic role in improving environmental quality, air and water resources, biodiversity, community participation, waste and emission reduction, economic growth through sustainable practices, and public health.
ISLIVAS 2025 also marks an important milestone in establishing livable space studies within educational and research institutions in Indonesia, gathering ideas and experiences from various stakeholders as a shared foundation.
The event opened with a keynote speech by Ir. Diana Kusumastuti, M.T., Deputy Minister of Public Works of the Republic of Indonesia, who outlined the application of RLBE in Indonesia’s strategic development context. Nine invited speakers from seven countries—USA, Germany, South Korea, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia—shared their insights and experiences.
Six invited speakers presented at the seminar at Mercure Hotel BSD, including:
The exhibition showcased a range of works and innovations in sustainable built environments from seminar participants, FTSP academics, and supporting sponsors.
The second day began with seminar presentations at the Sinarmas Land BSD City Marketing Office by:
Following the presentations, around 80 participants visited several iconic locations in BSD City that exemplify livability and sustainability principles, including Green Office Park, The Breeze, Digital Hub, Intermoda, Q-Big Plaza Walk, Eonna, and Eastvara. The excursion provided a direct learning experience in observing RLBE applications in real-world settings.
ISLIVAS 2025 was made possible through the support of 29 partners from universities, professional associations, ministries, local governments, and nationally and internationally accredited journals. Sponsorship was provided by Propan, Artoz Indo Utama, Bank BRI, PT. Pramutjipta, and Sinarmas Land as the strategic partner.
With the successful implementation of ISLIVAS 2025, FTSP Universitas Trisakti hopes that the concept of Regenerative Livable Built Environment will gain wider recognition and inspire various stakeholders to create built environments that are more livable, sustainable, and committed to the well-being of all living beings.
