Final Presentation and Closing Ceremony of KUM-ITT Desa 2025: Trisakti Students Showcase Impactful Innovations for Rural Communities

Jakarta, July 26, 2025 — Universitas Trisakti officially held the Final Presentation and Closing Ceremony of the KUM-ITT Desa 2025 Program virtually on Saturday, July 26, 2025. This event marked the conclusion of the Kuliah Usaha Mandiri dan Ilmu Teknologi Terapan (KUM-ITT) course. The field activities took place from July 3–12, 2025, in Ciambar District, Sukabumi Regency, West Java. As an elective course, KUM-ITT has been running since the start of the semester and culminated in this Final Semester Examination (UAS) phase.

The event was opened by Prof. Dr. Ir. Astri Rinanti, M.T., IPM., ASEAN Eng., who also delivered a report on the program’s implementation. In her report, Prof. Astri highlighted that students from six different villages had successfully completed a full learning cycle—comprising planning, implementation, evaluation, and reporting—based on appropriate technology programs they developed and implemented directly in the villages.

KUM-ITT Desa 2025 Theme:

“Optimization and Empowerment of Sustainable Local Potential through Appropriate Technological Innovation for Impactful Rural Communities.”

The theme underlined the commitment of Universitas Trisakti’s students and academic community to creating technological innovations that are not only relevant and applicable but also generate real and sustainable impact for rural society. It also aligns with the SDGs Desa (Village Sustainable Development Goals), which comprise 18 village-specific targets derived from the 17 global SDGs.

Key Role of Academic Advisors and Mentors

High appreciation was extended to the Field Supervising Lecturers (DPL) for their intensive guidance throughout the program. Amidst various on-site challenges, the DPLs played a crucial role in helping students stay focused on academic goals and community engagement.

Thanks were also conveyed to the Vice Deans I and III, Academic Advisors, as well as the Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs for their strong encouragement and support, which enabled the KUM-ITT program to be successfully implemented.

Field Learning Cycle as Final Evaluation

As a form of final semester evaluation, students from the six villages presented video documentation of their fieldwork, illustrating a complete learning cycle: Planning – Implementation – Evaluation – Reporting (PP-EPP). This model ensures that learning takes place not only in classrooms but also directly addresses real challenges within communities.

Trisakti’s Contribution to SDGs Desa

Through this initiative, Universitas Trisakti reaffirms its concrete contribution to sustainable village-based development. The program engaged students from 8 out of the university’s 9 faculties, reflecting the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing complex rural issues.

Program reports and outcomes were presented directly to the Rector, Vice Rectors, Deans, and other university leaders attending the event online.

Rector’s Remarks and Closing

Prof. Dr. Ir. Kadarsah Suryadi, DEA, Rector of Universitas Trisakti, delivered his appreciation to all parties who contributed to the success of the KUM-ITT Desa 2024–2025 program. In his address, he emphasized that such initiatives reflect Trisakti’s mission to cultivate graduates who are not only academically competent but also committed to national development, particularly through rural empowerment.

As part of the event, videos showcasing the students’ work in six villages (produced to grant standards) were screened, highlighting the implementation process and their engagement with the local communities.

The program was officially closed by Vice Rector I, Dr. Ir. Muhammad Burhannudinnur, M.Sc., IPU, ASEAN Eng., who expressed his hope that the KUM-ITT program would continue to grow in scope and impact in the coming years. The closing ceremony marked the formal conclusion of the KUM-ITT Desa activities for the 2024–2025 academic year.
