Chief of Surabaya Police Earns Doctorate with Cumlaude Honors from Universitas Trisakti

Jakarta, October 23, 2024 — Police Commissioner (Kombes Pol.) Dr. Luthfie Sulistiawan, S.I.K., M.H., M.Si., who serves as the Chief of the Surabaya Police, East Java Regional Police, has successfully earned his doctorate in the Doctoral Program of Law at Universitas Trisakti with cumlaude honors. The doctoral promotion exam, held this Wednesday, featured his dissertation titled “Reconstruction of the Legalization Policy for Small-Scale Gold Mining (PESK) in West Kalimantan.”

The exam was chaired by Dr. Dra. Siti Nurbaiti, S.H., M.Hum., Dean of the Faculty of Law Universitas Trisakti. The examination committee included prominent academics, such as Prof. Dr. Eriyantouw Wahid S.H., M.H., as the dissertation supervisor, and Dr. Hermansyah, S.H., M.Hum., as the co-supervisor. Other members of the committee included Prof. Dr. Bintan R. Saragih, S.H., Prof. Dr. Aloysius Uwiyono, S.H., M.H., Dr. Endang Pandamdari, S.H., C.N., M.H., and Dr. Rosdiana Saleh, S.H., M.H.

In his dissertation, Kombes Pol. Luthfie highlighted the importance of implementing appropriate policies to manage and legalize small-scale gold mining, particularly in West Kalimantan, to improve community welfare while preserving the environment. His exam involved in-depth and constructive discussions, and the examination committee praised his critical thinking and contributions to the field of law.

With this doctorate and cum laude honors, Kombes Pol. Luthfie is expected to contribute further to the development of legal frameworks in Indonesia, particularly in public policy and fair law enforcement. His achievement serves as an inspiration for both members of the National Police and the broader community to pursue higher education.
