3rd National Seminar on Sustainable Cities Held Online, Discussing Innovations in Livable City Development

Jakarta, 5 November 2024 – The Faculty of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Technology (FATTL) Universitas Trisakti successfully hosted the 3rd National Seminar on Sustainable Cities, held online. Under the theme “Innovations in the Development of Livable and Sustainable Cities,” this annual seminar aims to deepen understanding and foster collaboration among experts, academics, and practitioners in creating environmentally friendly, sustainable, and livable cities for all.

The event began with an opening address from the Rector of Universitas Trisakti, Prof. Dr. Ir. Kadarsah Suryadi, DEA, who emphasized the importance of innovation in urban planning and development amidst increasingly complex global challenges. In his remarks, Prof. Kadarsah stated that the seminar serves as a platform for sharing knowledge and experiences among various stakeholders in creating solutions for more inclusive and sustainable urban development.

The keynote speaker, Mr. J. Wahyu Kusomosusanto, Director of Residential Area Development at the Directorate General of Human Settlements, Ministry of Public Works, presented policies and strategies for residential area development that support the sustainable city concept. He outlined various government programs that promote the transformation of cities into greener, more efficient, and environmentally friendly spaces.

The seminar featured several distinguished speakers and practitioners in urban planning and environmental fields, including:

  • Ir. Anggia Murni, G.P., IALI – Director of PT. Tropica Greeneries
  • Dr. Phil. Hendricus Andy Simarmata, S.T., M.Si. – Chairman of the Indonesian Association of Urban and Regional Planners (IAPI)
  • Prof. IDAA Warmadewanthi, S.T., M.T., PhD., IPU – Expert Board Member of the Indonesian Society of Environmental Engineering and Sanitary Engineering (IATPI)

The seminar also involved universities across Indonesia as co-hosts, demonstrating academic collaboration among educational institutions nationwide.

One of the seminar’s key objectives is to encourage the writing of scientific papers related to the discussed topics. Participants are expected to produce scholarly articles that will later be published in prominent national journals, such as SINTA and Google Scholar, thereby making a tangible contribution to the advancement of knowledge in urban planning and environmental technology.

With a theme closely aligned with current global challenges, the 3rd National Seminar on Sustainable Cities serves as a critical forum for discussing various innovations that can be applied in building better and more sustainable cities. Collaboration between academics, government, and the private sector is expected to accelerate the realization of greener, environmentally friendly, and livable cities for all residents.
