Marissa was born in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan and spent her childhood moving residences following her father’s work at PT Pertamina. From kindergarten and elementary school in Palembang, South Sumatra, she then moved to Jakarta and continued her elementary education at SD Tebet Timur Pagi III. She then continued her junior high school education at SMP Negeri 73, Tebet, Jakarta, and her senior high school education at SMA Negeri 8, Bukit Duri, South Jakarta. Marissa’s father, H. Allen Haque, is of Indian-Dutch-French descent, while her mother, Hj. R.Ay Mieke Soeharijah, is of Javanese-Madurese descent. She is the younger sister of Soraya Haque and Shahnaz Haque. Lulusan Fakultas Hukum angkatan tahun 1982 ini dikenal berkat beberapa perannya di film dan sinetron dan kini mendalami ilmu hukum sebagai seorang dosen.
