“In my opinion, the Geological Engineering Program at Usakti has a good curriculum that meets national standards. As for hard skills, there is no doubt about it, we just need to increase field excursion activities to sharpen the instincts of geologists or visit oil & gas companies or mining companies to hone one of the soft skills, which is networking with experts from the industry. Soft skills are non-technical skills but are very important to equip our juniors in the workforce besides hard skills. Examples of soft skills include public presentation classes, creating good presentations, crafting good resumes, tips and tricks for facing interviews so that when facing interviews/group discussions, one can stand out more and perform better because during job selection and group discussions, right or wrong answers are less important; the most important thing is how you present an idea, defend your idea, influence others, and present your idea to others with adequate data, evidence, and logic.”
