The Faculty of Law, Universitas Trisakti, through LKBH and LPKH, successfully held a seminar on the Draft Criminal Procedure Code (RKUHAP) with the theme “Examining RKUHAP: Risks of Procedural Criminalization, Evaluation, and Prospects for Handling Criminal Acts” on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the Prof. E. Suherman Auditorium, Building H, Faculty of Law, Universitas Trisakti. The event was also part of the commemoration of Universitas Trisakti’s 60th Anniversary.

The seminar opened with remarks by the Organizing Committee Chair, Abiyyu, who emphasized the importance of this forum as a collaborative academic space to enrich students’ perspectives in understanding the dynamics of criminal law reform. The Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Dra. Siti Nurbaiti, S.H., M.Hum., also underlined that RKUHAP is a fundamental instrument of the criminal justice system, and therefore, students must be actively involved in critiquing it while also pushing for the realization of more substantive justice.

The seminar featured distinguished speakers, including Usman Hamid (Executive Director of Amnesty International Indonesia), Dr. M. Ali Syaifudin, S.H., M.H. (Chairman of the Board of Trustees, LBH Hade Indonesia Raya), Nuri Andrian, S.H., M.Krim. (Legal Division, Polda Metro Jaya), and Dr. Hendrik Jehaman, S.H., M.H. (Advocate, DPC Peradi West Jakarta). The interactive discussion, moderated by Zahra Nazira, was attended by students, lecturers, and academics.

The seminar underscored the urgency of revising the Criminal Procedure Code to align with the development of law, human rights, and the needs of justice in society. Through this initiative, Universitas Trisakti reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing a generation of critical legal scholars capable of contributing meaningfully to the advancement of Indonesia’s legal system.
