On August 27–28, 2025, the Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD), Universitas Trisakti (Usakti), held its Pengenalan Kehidupan Kampus bagi Mahasiswa Baru (PKKMB) or Campus Life Orientation Program for New Students with great enthusiasm. The event took place at Building R, 2nd Floor, Universitas Trisakti, and was attended by Prof. Dr. Wegig Murwonugroho, M.Hum., Dean of FSRD Usakti; Ir. Yoska Oktaviano, S.T., M.T., Vice Rector III of Usakti; as well as the FSRD leadership team.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Wegig Murwonugroho, M.Hum., Dean of FSRD, emphasized the importance for new students to uphold discipline, commitment, and creativity as they begin their academic journey in the fields of art and design. The presence of Vice Rector III, Ir. Yoska Oktaviano, S.T., M.T., further demonstrated Universitas Trisakti’s strong support for nurturing the next generation of artists and designers.
The first day’s sessions included presentations from the Vice Deans of FSRD on academic affairs, student development, faculty facilities, and collaborative programs at both national and international levels. New students were also introduced to FSRD’s laboratories and inspired by accomplished student achievers who have brought pride to the faculty.
In addition, introductions were made to various student organizations (Ormawa) within FSRD, including the Student Parliament, BEM, and Student Associations, as well as Student Activity Units (UKM) that offer opportunities to develop talents and interests beyond academics.
The day concluded with a campus tour, where freshmen explored FSRD facilities and became acquainted with the study programs available, fostering a sense of belonging and community among students, faculty, and campus organizations.
The second day of PKKMB was held online via Zoom, featuring highly relevant and inspiring sessions. The program opened with a presentation on Universitas Trisakti’s library, highlighting available resources and services to support students’ learning.
This was followed by a session on “Love for the Homeland” delivered by Cheryl Tanzil, Expert Staff at the Presidential Staff Office (Deputy V), who underlined the importance of patriotism as a foundation for character building.
Next, Riky A. Siswanto, S.Ds., Ph.D., alumnus of Visual Communication Design (class of 2005) and a successful creative entrepreneur, presented “Creative Preneurship for Young Generation.” He shared valuable insights on transforming creativity into entrepreneurial opportunities, highly relevant to students in the fields of art and design.
The program continued with psychologist Imelda Melliani, Psi., who presented “Entering University Life.” She provided guidance on overcoming academic challenges and cultivating a positive mental and emotional outlook during the transition to higher education.
The event concluded with faculty-led virtual sessions from each study program, featuring successful alumni and giving students a deeper understanding of what they can expect from their respective academic journeys.
PKKMB FSRD Usakti 2025 proved to be an inspiring platform for new students as they embark on their academic journey. From academic briefings to campus tours and student activities, the program was designed to equip freshmen with knowledge, motivation, and a sense of community. With full support from the faculty leadership and educators, the new students are expected to begin their studies with renewed enthusiasm and a broader perspective.
