Jakarta, 25 October 2024 – Universitas Trisakti hosted a webinar titled “Scaling up Sustainability for MSMEs” as part of the ECOGREEN project (Empowering Transdisciplinary Collaboration and Green Entrepreneurial Education Towards Sustainable Campus and Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises in Indonesia). This initiative, a collaboration between six universities in Indonesia and two in Europe, is part of the Industry-Based Guest Lectures on Sustainable Business Series, aimed at raising awareness and understanding among Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) about the importance of sustainable business practices in facing global business challenges.
The ECOGREEN project, funded by the European Union, is designed to promote green entrepreneurial education and interdisciplinary collaboration with a focus on sustainable development for MSMEs and campuses in Indonesia. This program aligns with the efforts of the Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs (Kemenkop), to encourage MSMEs to adopt environmentally friendly and sustainable business practices to enhance their competitiveness both domestically and internationally. Universitas Trisakti, an institution actively involved in MSME empowerment, has also partnered with Kemenkop in various programs supporting sustainable MSME growth.
The webinar featured several experts, including Wisnu Dewobroto, E-Business Ecosystem Advisor from the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, who provided insights on government initiatives to help MSMEs transition towards sustainability. Wisnu emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government and MSMEs to foster growth without harming the environment. Other speakers included Erwin Hendra Putra from PT Pertamina Hulu Energi, who discussed corporate social responsibility and sustainable practices, and Henry Falentino, Director of Business Development and Investment at PT Pariwisata Cihérang Sumedang Selatan, who spoke on sustainable investment opportunities and eco-friendly practices in the local tourism sector.
Henry highlighted how sustainable tourism could serve as a long-term strategy supporting MSME growth in tourism areas. Moderated by Emelia Sari, ST, MT, PhD, Head of the Business Incubator Development Center at Universitas Trisakti, the webinar encouraged engaging and effective discussions. Supported by the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, the event aligns with its initiatives for sustainable business practices among MSMEs. Through the collaboration with the ECOGREEN project and the commitment of Universitas Trisakti, Kemenkop hopes to help Indonesian MSMEs become better prepared to face business challenges in a global era that increasingly prioritizes eco-friendly and sustainable practices.
