Spirit of Independence: Universitas Trisakti Holds Ceremony and 2024 Independence Festival

Jakarta, August 17, 2024 – Universitas Trisakti University held a ceremony to commemorate the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia (HUT RI), attended by the academic community within the Trisakti Foundation. The ceremony was conducted solemnly and festively at Universitas Trisakti’s Campus A in Jakarta.

The Chairman of the Trisakti Foundation, Prof. Ainun Na’im, Ph.D., M.B.A. (as per the Decree of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights No. AHU-0000310.AH.01.05. of 2023), served as the ceremony leader and guided the event with great reverence. In his speech, Prof. Ainun expressed hope that all higher education institutions under the Trisakti Foundation will implement the strategic programs that have been planned. Furthermore, he emphasized the need for support from all institutions in preparing for the process of becoming state universities with legal entity status (PTN-BH).

The ceremony was also attended by representatives from all the educational institutions under the Trisakti Foundation, including Universitas Trisakti, Trisakti Institute of Tourism, Trisakti Institute of Transportation and Logistics, Trisakti School of Economics, Trisakti School of Insurance Management, and Trisakti School of Media and Communication. Their presence demonstrated unity within the Trisakti Foundation and a spirit of togetherness in celebrating this historic day. Additionally, this year’s HUT RI ceremony also involved international students currently studying at Universitas Trisakti. Their presence added color and diversity to the celebration, providing an opportunity to introduce and appreciate Indonesian culture on a global stage.

As part of the celebration, Universitas Trisakti also organized the Independence Festival. The festival featured various competitions involving the entire academic community, ranging from sports competitions to artistic contests. One of the festival’s highlights was the cultural carnival, showcasing diverse dances, music, and traditional costumes from various regions of Indonesia. This carnival not only served as a platform to celebrate independence but also to preserve and promote Indonesia’s cultural richness.

“As we know, one of the national goals stated in the Preamble of the 1945 Constitution is to educate the nation. This national goal is our collective responsibility and not solely the government’s task. Therefore, the participation of society in higher education through legal entities/foundations that manage private universities aligns with the vision and mission of the Trisakti Foundation, as established by the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 330/P/2022,” said Prof. Ainun.

In response to recent issues regarding the status of the Trisakti Foundation, the Director of Human Resources and former Director of Institutional Affairs at the Directorate General of Higher Education, who also serves as a Trustee of the Trisakti Foundation under the Decree No. 330/P/2022, Dr. Lukman, S.T., M.Hum, stated that he had received information regarding the Supreme Court’s decision. According to Dr. Lukman, the decision does not affect the educational activities at Trisakti, especially if it has already obtained PTN-BH status.

“Currently, the government is present to protect and safeguard the existence of the six Trisakti institutions from a few individuals who seek to control them for personal gain. Trisakti is being prepared to become a PTN-BH, similar to UI, UGM, ITB, and others, as its assets have already become state property,” emphasized Dr. Lukman, S.T., M.Hum.

Universitas Trisakti hopes that the celebration of the 79th HUT RI will inspire and motivate the entire academic community within the Trisakti Foundation to continue making positive contributions to the nation’s progress.
