On Wednesday, July 17, 2024, Universitas Trisakti held a Study Center Workshop as part of the events for the 2023/2024 academic year. Prof. Dr. Ir. Kadarsah Suryadi, DEA, Rector of Universitas Trisakti, emphasized in his speech the importance of allocating budget to the Center of Excellence in Science and Technology (PUI) at Universitas Trisakti, which serves as a national center of excellence. This PUI not only focuses on a single university but has a national scope, involving interdisciplinary work and providing solutions with strong scientific justification.
It was highlighted that the Ministry allocates significant funds, up to 200 million rupiahs, for PUI proposals that meet legal and international publication requirements. This poses a challenge and responsibility for PUI managers to optimally utilize the available funds. Additionally, there was a discussion about the potential for collaboration with various parties, both domestic and international, to support research and development activities at PUI. This is expected to strengthen Universitas Trisakti’s position in national and international rankings.
Universitas Trisakti also reaffirmed its commitment to research and community service by announcing the existence of 8 centers of excellence under the Research and Community Service Institute. These centers focus on various fields such as information technology, renewable energy, and artificial intelligence, aiming to provide concrete solutions to current societal problems.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Astri Rinanti, M.T., IPM., ASEAN Eng., Director of the Research and Community Service Institute, also stated that activities at the Study Centers must meet national standards, including planning, implementation, and reporting as accountability to all stakeholders. This forms the backbone of two of the university’s missions, research and community service, which are expected to be carried out synergistically and collaboratively.
Regarding the management of these centers, there is a discourse on changing the term “Study Center” to “Center of Excellence” in the future, to emphasize excellence in specific fields.
Overall, Universitas Trisakti is developing a robust infrastructure for research and community service, supported by various parties including expert councils and collaborations with partners both domestically and internationally. This is expected to make a tangible contribution to advancing the university’s role in national and international contexts.
